Kiddush

Also spelled  Qiddush (Hebrew: “sanctification”)  Jewish benediction and prayer recited over a cup of wine immediately before the meal on the eve of the sabbath or of a festival; the ceremony acknowledges the sanctity of the day that has just begun.
